The Death of Reciprocal Links

The Death of Reciprocal Links

The last series of Google updates that started at the end of October has shown that Google is once more again a big step ahead of many webmasters and SEO Bounty Hunters. It seems like this time reciprocal links have been stamped as less valuable or maybe even worthless to Google.

Our observations have shown that link exchanges between non-relevant websites are apparently recognized as reciprocal and that they either disappear from Googles list of existing back links or that they carry less value for inbound links. This resulted in either loss of page rank or direct referrals from Google which again means less high ranking in the search results for these websites.

Websites that participated in link exchange programs will soon have to realize that these link exchanges are not helpful anymore. But to recognize this it requires thorough analysis of traffic and how a website is listed in Google. Many webmasters will fail to realize this early on and continue with their strategy of exchanging links. They will lose valuable time that could be used for more important things to work on. This is good for webmasters who are becoming aware of this change in Googles way of ranking websites and concentrate on other SEO related processes.

What are things webmasters should now concentrate on when doing SEO work Webmasters should now concentrate on building strong one-way inbound links. Best ways to do this are press releases, publishing articles and the old fashion linking from directories. Link exchanges can still work as long as they are not reciprocal. An example would be that 2 webmasters have 2 websites each. Site A links to site C. Site C then links to site B and site B links to site D while site D links to site A.

Its Goodbye To Google

You read that right.

Ive told Google to push off.

Stop spidering me.

I no longer want my online business to depend on its everchanging whims as to what makes a good or bad ranking.

I dont want to spend time collecting thousands ofbackward links then find that they are probably worthlessbecause the anchor text does not contain a suitablekeyword, or the site does not have sufficient page rank,or whatever the latest algorithm is.

I dont want to buy expensive cloaking tools and run therisk of penalization.

I dont want to be bothered about whether a domain has astatic or dynamic IP address or have to use differenthosts to make a network of minisites.

Whats that you say You dont need fancy tricks - justprovide good relevant content.

My answer

Nonsense.

I have a huge content site devoted solely to ClickBank, the only one of its kind.

If you wanted to find the most relevant content for asearch on the keyword ClickBank dont you think thatwould be at the top

Well Google used to agree with you.

It was ranked number 2, with only ClickBank.com itself atnumber one.

Today it is ranked ... wait for it ... number 426.

It is beaten out of sight by sites which have nothing todo with ClickBank but happen to mention that keyword once.

I asked a search engine expert about this and he suggestedthat it was due to keyword density, in other words toomany mentions of the word ClickBank.

Well that has to be the case - the site is after all aComplete Guide to ClickBank

His advice - try replacing the word ClickBank occasionallye.g. use CB.

No way.
